Courageous Counselors

Melissa Wulfert, Writer

Throughout the week of February 5-9, schools all around the US made it their job to show appreciation to their counselors. They do so much work for the school district, and they never get the recognition they deserve. A lot of students in our building do not even know who the counselors are or what they do. During this week, Student Council member Jenna Wood spoke over the intercom after the announcements. She did this to show the students and teachers know how much she and the rest of Student Council appreciate the counselors. She also mentioned all the responsibilities the counselors have to do because it’s not an easy occupation.

If you still do not know who your counselors are, for 9th and 10th grade your counselor is Mrs. Edmonds. If you are in 11th or 12th grade, your counselor is Mrs. Mathes; also this year we have Mrs. Myers, who is helping out Mrs. Mathes. These three women get overlooked every day. Their jobs are so important for our school district. Without them we would not have any college-related help or opportunities that we now have. We would also not have anybody to go to if we are ever having trouble. Even though the appreciation week is over, that does not mean you have to stop showing all your thanks and support to the counselors. They deserve all the recognition they can get!
