“Lets” Ace the Season, Ladies

Liz Hinkle, Writer

So far so good. Our current record for the season is 2-3, but that is not what defines us! The Ladycats tennis team is made up of a great group of girls that treat each other like family. Everyone has a role on the team, especially the seniors, who we will miss so much when they leave! Taylor Starkey is like the mom of the tennis team and has a heart of pure gold. Victoria Peppers is our spirit animal, she can be late to early morning practice because she wants to sleep but then the next day kick butt in her matches. Then we have Lexi Pogue, who brings all the laughs, whether it’s about her dancing for food or just cracking a joke.

We have had to overcome many challenges already this season. The rain has been our enemy when it comes to practices, our courts have been vandalized, and our shed is falling apart. Luckily, we are able to use the middle school when it rains, and thanks to our new assistant coach, Coach Hinkle, we raised enough money during our Chik-Fil-A fundraiser to purchase a new shed! As only some may know, we used to not be able to play home games on our court because they were so badly cracked. Thankfully, the city of Fredericktown restored them so come out and support the very successful Ladycats tennis team.
