2017 has been a great year for our tennis team. The Lady Blackcats had a great start to their season with an 8-1 win against Potosi, which continued when they played Cape Central and won 5-4.

Although their next match against Farmington was a tough one, junior Taylor Starkey pulled through and won singles, making the ending score 1-8. Later in the week, the Lady Blackcats used some awesome teamwork to beat North County 9-0. Then the Lady Trojans from Potosi took the L when the Lady Blackcats won 8-1 at home. The team suffered two tough losses against St. Pius (Festus) and Farmington, but brought it back when they won both matches during their doubleheader with Arcadia Valley.

The Ladycats won their first round of districts against Windsor, the district champions last year. Windsor lost 0-9, which brought the Ladycats to the district championship with St. Pius the next day. After an exciting season, the Ladycats placed second in districts. On Saturday, September 28, they will compete individually at Windsor’s courts in the district tournament.
