DECA Officers and Future Plans

The following people listed are the Fredericktown DECA Officers and their duties as an officer. Mr. Wooldridge is the DECA Sponsor and you have to be enrolled in one of his classes to participate in DECA.

President: Nolan Hovis

  • Coordinates all activities of chapter and chapter VPs.

VP of Charity: Jenna Wood

  • Helps coordinate charitable activities.

VP of Finance: Ralph Patterson

  • Keeps track of store records, membership/competition dues/various expenses. Helps make deposits.

VP of Sales: Will Arras

  • Helps control inventory (purchasing, stocking), helps determine prices/sales of merchandise.

VP of Media: Logan Winkelman

  • Takes/collects/creates content to be shared with community via multiple channels (Twitter, Instagram, newsletter, etc.).

VP of Curriculum: Callie Francis

  • Helps design and implement professional development materials (event guides, study guides, coordinates member participation in studying).

 

Future DECA Plans and Events:

The next thing coming up for DECA, on February 6, is districts. We go to Southeast Missouri State University to compete based on the category that the members choose. These categories include: Marketing Management, Entrepreneurship, Sports Marketing, etc. Most of these competitions include a one-hundred-question test and a roleplay that pertain to their category. If students place within the top two of their categories, they get to advance into state competition. This happens sometime in March. Placing in the top five at state allows you to move on to internationals. International competition is held somewhere different each year, but it is normally in places like California or Florida.

Not a whole lot goes on for DECA in the first semester, but we plan on going into districts with a bang. Our goal is to bring as many people to state as we can so that we have a better opportunity to get to internationals.
