After FHS: The Next Chapter
December 19, 2017
Many people from FHS graduate. Few people continue in a sports career. Even fewer have a chance to play overseas or in the D-League. Bernard Dorsey has managed to have all these opportunities and is still in the local community, but how?
Bernard plays in the ABA, a league that went extinct for a while when it merged with another league to form the NBA but has returned as more of a development league. He plays for a team known as the St. Louis Spirits, which gets its name from the famous transatlantic flight “Spirit of St. Louis.”
When asked about team practices, Bernard responded with this: ” Team practices are well designed, and I’m always learning something new. This league is a huge opportunity to go into either the D-League or overseas for basketball. My team is full of very talented and great people. Every game and practice is very competitive, and the refs actually let the players play, unlike high school ball.”
In his free time he mainly works out in the gym, puts up shots, plays 2K, or hangs out with his friends. I asked him what his short term goals were, and he told me he wanted to become a franchise player for the Spirits, or play overseas.
Overall, FHS is proud to have such an accomplished alumnus.
