This year, our Gold Dusters team has worked harder than any other dance team I know. They’ve practiced through rain or shine, good times, tough times, and even messy times. Our girls put a lot of effort into their dances that they’ve performed this year for our school, their main audience. This year The Gold Dusters went into competition with their heads held high. The competition this year was in Farmington, Missouri.  They placed in three dances: second in hip-hop, and third in their pom and jazz dances. They did an outstanding job and performed very well this year.

I asked Skylar Sikes, the main choreographer, what she would miss about the team and she replied  “I will miss this team more than anything and I hope to continue choreographing for them! I can’t wait to come back and watch how they’ve grown.”

I also asked Lauren Wagganer, a senior gold duster, what her favorite thing was this year and she replied “My favorite thing this year was the bond we had as a team at competition; it made us compete the best that we have in the last four years.” She also stated “I’m going to miss all of the girls and my coach that I have gotten to connect with the past four years. They were like my second family because of how much time we spent together. I’m going to miss the people the most.”

This year has been a great one for our gold dusters team. Lets hope there are many more to come!
