With only a few short weeks left of the school year, the FHS girls soccer season is coming to an end, leaving the seniors on the team with only a couple more games to enjoy as Ladycats. The three seniors include Brezlyn Boswell, Arika Buxton, and Loren Kinkead. All three girls fill the role of the team’s designated captains, acting as mediators between their teammates, the managers, and the referees. The most important part of the job of captain is to lead the team and model exceptional sportsmanship, which these girls fulfill every time they step onto the field.

The girls have been a part of the team throughout all 4 years of high school and, like every athlete, have dedicated themselves to the sport. It is unfortunate that FHS has to say goodbye to these ladies, but exciting things are in store for them over the next few years. One senior, Loren Kinkead, has decided to continue her soccer and scholastic career at Mineral Area College. Another senior, Arika Buxton, signed with Missouri Baptist to play soccer and continue her education at an NAIA program (National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics). Lastly, Brezlyn Boswell plans to attend a school in St. Louis to pursue a career in the dental field.

It was an exciting last season for the seniors, and they have the stats to prove it. Arika Buxton is currently leading the team in goals as of their last game against Kelly on May 3rd with an outstanding total of 21. Loren Kinkead has scored 2 goals for the team. The Ladycat’s goalkeeper is senior Brezlyn Boswell, who has saved 77 goal attempts from other competitors. The seniors have improved so much throughout their high school careers and have grown as athletes, leaders, and students.
