As the school year is coming to a close so are the spring sports, and more importantly to seniors, Grant Ebert, Micah Heisler, and Matt Starkey, their last golf season is coming to an end. These three men have dedicated their time during this spring season to experience the greatness that is the FHS Golf team and boy did they make some memories.

Matt Starkey says, “My favorite memory is birdieing three at forche in Potosi.” He also adds, “Golf is one of those games that you don’t have to be super athletics to go out and play, so it’s super easy to just join and give it a shot,” and he isn’t wrong. This has been a trend in recent years for male senior athletes that prioritize other sports like basketball or soccer, to end up finishing out their athletic careers by joining the golf team. Even though these guys, including Matt, have most likely never picked up a golf club, they always end up having the best time learning new things, making new friends, and driving the best shots.

The second senior, Micah Heisler, has been playing golf for two years and he says, “There is nothing like hitting bombs and playing some golf with the boys.” Golf is just one of those sports where the jokes are never-ending and the friendships are ever-lasting. Micah always has a way of making things a little less tense when things get a little too stressful and his bright personality will be missed.

Saving the best for last, Grant Ebert, the “MVP” of the Fredericktown golf team. Grant has had many successes over his career and has always excelled greatly in every way you can imagine. From helping the team bring home the “hardware” to assisting the less knowledgeable players on the course. His love for the game of golf will be hard to beat in the following years. Grant concludes by saying, “These last 4 years have been an honor, and I am thankful to be able to walk in the Lord’s creations it has truly been unimaginable.”
