Mr. Callahan
September 21, 2017
Garrett Callahan started his fist year of teaching at Fredericktown High School. He is excited for this year and has extremely high hopes. “I never envisioned myself becoming a teacher,” Mr. Callahan states as he continues to say that his inspiration came from other teachers who encouraged him. He saw the impact they had on him and wanted to do the same thing. So he went off to Southeast Missouri State to become a teacher. A part of his requirements to become a teacher was student teaching, which he also did here at Fredericktown with Mrs. Hovis. Luckily for him, we also had a job opening for that next year, which is the current year, and he was able to start working right out of college. His biggest fear about this year is that he would fail his students this year, but we all know he will conquer his fears.
Mr. Callahan’s first year as a teacher has also brought him his first year of coaching. He is the JV boys basketball coach and has set his hopes high for this year’s season. His main goal is to have a winning record and to inspire the players as best he can.
This is looking great for Mr. Callahan as he continues through his teaching career. He has a great attitude which will bring him farther and farther through his life.
