For the Ladycats, this tennis season brought some exciting experiences. We represented our school well by having good sportsmanship and trying our best at every match. Coach Maddie Rehkop says, “We accomplished a lot this season! We improved our record from last year, we beat Farmington for the first time in 7 years, and we had several girls receive medals at the MAAA Conference Tournament.”

This year the Ladycats had one senior, Sydney Bell. With Sydney on the team, there are very few dull moments. Many memories filled with jokes, laughter, and singing very loudly in the back of the bus were made. Sydney is a very inspiring person and will always encourage you. She says, “My favorite memories were team bonding. Every home game we went out to eat with each other at the Pig BBQ and spent time with each other. My teammates have absolutely been the best part of tennis this year. The memories we created this year cannot be topped.”

On our team, we have six varsity players that are either new or have moved up since last year. Sophomore Nina Lewis says, “It’s a different atmosphere than playing on JV because you know that if you win or lose it actually affects the whole team, but I think that makes it more fun because you are contributing.” One of our juniors, Emiley Geen, who is going to move up in rank, says, “I’m looking forward to being challenged more, improving myself as a tennis player, and for one last season of tennis.”

Throughout the season, we have had our wins and losses, but that doesn’t take away from all of the memories and experiences. We are looking forward to next season and improving as individuals and a team.
