The FHS Lady Blackcats started early for Breast Cancer Awareness month. On September 26th, the ladycats raised over $80 for Shelly Watson, who is fighting cancer. The money came from 50/50 tickets, pink accessories, Pink Out shirts, also this year Student Council and DECA helped donate items for a silent auction. STUCO was able to get so many items in that they could make two baskets!

Both Junior Varsity and Varsity had the opportunity to play for a friend or family member that has either survived cancer or someone in memory of. This was to show that the teams do not take this situation lightly. This is a huge matter when it comes to cancer. Even though the JV did not win their game against North County they played their hearts out, they went 3 sets with NC. Although the Varsity was able to pull out the win and “Block out Cancer.” The varsity also went 3 sets with North County and worked hard.

In between games, the Gold Dusters were able to do their homecoming performance to show their support for cancer as well. After the gold dusters performed the Varsity ran out and threw out a few pink out accessories and shirts to help get others to buy them.

The Lady Blackcats were very glad that they had this opportunity to help fight cancer. They do this every year and it always one of the biggest deals for them.
