The Lady Cats volleyball team faced off against Arcadia Valley on September 16th. Despite losing this match, the Lady Cats showed unity and determination the entire game. The game was a very close face-to-face one; many ties were seen along the way with our team in the lead several times. The first game sets came to a score of 18 to 25 for the junior varsity. While those scores were a big difference, the Lady Cats didn’t let that sway the pride of the team! Our girls pushed, and the second set ended with 22 to 25, a real neck-and-neck game.
The game had a surprising halt when the refs called a stop to discuss rotations and problems they faced. The game was frozen for a while before things hopped back in track and the ball was back in the air. As the 3third set started, the Lady Cats started off in a bad light with several points difference. At 14 to 17, the Lady Cats were behind but catching up when our coach called for the first break. The game was resumed after a prideful pep talk; as we were nearing the end, our coach called for a second break at a tie of 19 to 19.
The final break called for the Lady Cats was at 24 to 24! An exhilarating experience of suspense washed over the crowd as both teams faced off to 25 for their final moments. The Lady Cats’ and Arcadia Valley’s teams were neck and neck again with only two points to win. After a back-and-forth contest, the Lady Cats fell victim to the loss; however, the Cats’ claws were not cut as throughout the game the Lady Cats never faltered or showed poor sportsmanship, and, in my opinion, that’s the best win someone can have.
