With this year’s volleyball season slowing down, we have started to reflect on the great work these girls have done and how much effort they and the coaches have put in. I wanted to get into the opinions and root of the team to see first hand the spirit and overall brightness of the team. I interviewed JV volleyball member Allyson Yant. She was very kind to allow me this interview. My first question was If she had enjoyed this season so far, Allyson responded in a bright way, “Yes, it has been very fun, and our team this year is amazing.”
I continued the interview with a followed up question about her team, volleyball is a sport you have to work together in much like every other sport and I wanted to know how that felt to her, so I asked how she felt about her teams integrity and spirit. In response to my question, she said “The spirit this year was very high and cheerful. Even when we were losing someone on our team would hype us up and get us through it.”
It was lovely to hear a inside of a team that helps each other even when faced with a loss. My last question to wrap up the interview was something more personal as sports and teams aren’t just about the whole, but the parts that make up it, Allyson and the rest of the girls are just as important individually as they are a team, I wished to learn more about the challenges or happiness she felt. I asked to her, What was a memory that really stuck out to you this season, her response was “Definitely, keeping up with Farmington during the JV game. Going in, we thought we were going to lose badly. However, we ended up keeping a really close score throughout the game. Even when we lost the game, it serves as a reminder of how good we were able to play.”
I was very thankful for the interview and the insight I got not only on the team but on the overall emotion of the season and how it felt to her.
