The Fredericktown Highschool boys soccer team ended their regular season on a high note with an impressive 2-0 victory over sikeston. The team showed great teamwork, not only in the last game but all season. All players showed great determination, closing out the season with confidence heading into district games.
Junior striker Carter Jordan led the offense with two goals. One of those was assisted by Brandon Martinez, while Reid Simmons set up the other. In goal, Brigg Hale had an outstanding performance, recording nine saves and securing a shutout against Sikeston.
The win against Sikeston was not just a win, the 2025 boys soccer team tied the school’s single-season win record. But they didnt stop there, in the first round of district play, they played against North County and came out with the win, officially breaking the record for most wins in a single season.
After the game, I spoke with junior Carter Jordan who has been a consistent leader on the field, He shared what was going through his head before the game, he said “I had a feeling that we were going to beat them, but its the hard work that will pay off.”
Senior Carson Buford, who plays right back, mentioned one of his favorite lessons from assistant soccer coach McCoy: “To be the champs, you have to beat the champs.” Carson said that he’s been playing soccer since he was a kid. Carson said that his favorite memory from playing soccer all four years of high school has been playing goat noises on the bus rides to annoy the driver.
Senior Greyson Shoemaker, who plays right wing, mentioned a saying that stuck with him is “with accountability comes responsibility.” He also said that his mom is his biggest inspiration. His favorite memory of the season was winning a district game.
Senior Walker Smith, a center back, said that despite the ups and downs of the season a memorable moment that he had with the team was when he accidentally scored on his own goal. He also enjoyed annoying the bus drivers with his friends.
With there record-breaking season, the boys soccer team has showed what hard work, dedication, discipline, and teamwork can help you accomplish. The soccer team is excited and ready to see what the rest of the district games have in store for them. One thing is for certain-this season will be remembered.
