It was an exciting night at Fredericktown soccer field as the Blackcats took on Windsor in a tough game that had all on the edges of their seats. The energy was high from the start, with parents and some students in the stands cheering the boys on.
Right from kickoff, both teams came out strong. The first half was super competitive, with each side fighting hard for control of the ball. The defense held up well, with Brigg Hale making some big stops at goal, and the midfield was moving the ball with solid passing. One goal put Fredericktown ahead of Windsor 1-0. They weren’t ahead for long before Windsor scored as well, tying it 1-1. FHS and Windsor both kept the pressure on throughout the whole game.
As the game went on, both teams got more aggressive, and you could tell how badly everyone wanted the win. Brandon Martinez took a corner kick and just barely missed the goal. Windsor scored another goal after a tough fight with Fredericktown, which brought the score to 2-1. The boys stayed up and in high hopes the whole game, especially during those last few minutes. They pushed hard, and Fredericktown ended up scoring with around 10 minutes left in the game tying the score at 2-2. Windsor ended up coming back and scoring another time, bringing the final score to 3-2. Even though it was a tough result, the team played with a lot of heart. Players like Brandon Martinez, Xander Cassidy, Carter Jordan, Reid Simmons and many others really stood out with their efforts.
FHS boys soccer coach said their season has been going really well. “The boys have been working hard, showing steady improvement each week, and really starting to come together as a team.” This season they have had ups and downs; that’s part of being on a team. Coach Wagganer also said that his most rewarding part as a coach is “watching the players grow—not just in skill, but in confidence, leadership, and teamwork.” These boys are on the road to have a successful and competitive season! Next up, the Blackcats take on Notre Dame on 10/9/2025, looking to bounce back strong.
