The Fredericktown baseball team may not have walked away with a win this game, but Tuesday night was about more than the scoreboard. On Senior Night, the Blackcats honored Mason Proffer, Jordan Coffey, and Aiden Shultz three players who have left a lasting impact on the program through their dedication, leadership, and love for the game. The three have played for the Fredericktown baseball team for all four years of high school.
Facing St. Genevieve, Fredericktown came into the game ready to compete and try their hardest. From the first pitch to the final out, they showed lots of determination and effort. They never backed down, even when the game was tough and they weren’t winning. Every inning reflected the team’s commitment to playing hard and not giving up on their team and especially for their seniors. Although the Blackcats didn’t come out on top, they didn’t let Ste. Gen win without a fight. As the final out was recorded it struck some emotions not only because of the loss, but the seniors realized that it was closer to the end of the season than they thought. Their impact on the team will carry on, for younger players they have inspired along the way. The bounds built, the lessons learned, and the effort given mean even more than the losses. The boys might not have gotten the result they wanted, but they walked off the field with pride in how they played and respect for the seniors that have helped them learn and improve along the way. Their next game will be 4/29/26 at 4:30 at Herky. Go support your Fredericktown Baseball team!
