The Lady Cats softball team did a very impressive job this season. This year their record is 18-8, breaking the school’s record 16 wins in a season. The Lady Cats softball 2021 season had a 35% winning rate. Their rate has now grown to 69.6%, the team proving just how much they have improved. This is the highest winning rate they have had in the past 15 years. This was accomplished by the ladies’ hard work and dedication to their team.
Many of these girls have played together for years on local traveling teams, bringing in years of experience to achieve so many great wins. There is amazing talent and years of wins to follow these girls. A special highlight is this year’s seniors: Abby Kinkead, Allie Bloom, Terri Duffel, and Sadie Gibson. Each of these ladies has been inspiring to their peers, encouraging them to push themselves and achieve their goals. These great team members were large contributors to the team’s wins, including taking first place in the Chaffee tournament.
Looking at the 2023 fall season softball district tournament, Fredericktown started in the semi-finals by playing against the Perryville Pirates, taking a win with 11-3, and making the finals. In the final game they were challenged by Lutheran South, where they sadly lost 3-15, losing the championship but still placing 2nd overall.
We also want to congratulate our all-region honor players: Miley Wengler (10) , first team in field; Michaela Reagan (9), second team pitcher; Calie Allgier (11), second team outfield; and Sadie Gibson (12), second team utility. Each of these young ladies earned these titles with hours of hard work and dedication. They have taken the extra step to stand out and bring their team together and do their best.
Way to go, Fredericktown Ladycats softball team, and thank you for a great 2023 season! We look forward to the next!
